Ann Siang Hill is a small hill just outside Chinatown, connected by Ann Siang Road with Telok Ayer on one side and south Bridge rd on the other side.
The hill was orginally owned by Charles Scott who planted cloves and nutmeg around the hill. There was originally an underground spring running through the hill. However despite the intensive irrigation efforts, there was not enough water to sustain crop growth. The hill was then owned by John Gemmill. The life of the hill was invigorated after it was bought over by Chia Ann Siang.

Today, Ann Siang Road and Club Street are bohemian spots for cafe hoppers. The din in the evening has replaced the clok of majong tiles in the afternoon. These streets come to live at night with many exclusive pubs.
